MS Word Referencing Tool

- Click on the References tab on the top menu.
- The tool you will be using is in the Citations & Bibliography section.
- The first thing you need to do is set your Referencing Style - for example, Harvard.
- Click on the button to the right of Style.
- Select Harvard.
Note: Check with your lecturers which referencing style to use. It may not always be Harvard.
How do I add in-text Citations for a Book?
- Point the cursor at the point in the document where you want to add a citation.
- Click Insert Citation.

- Start by choosing the Type of Source from the drop-down box – in this case, Book.
- Fill in the relevant sections of the form and Click OK to generate an in-text citation.

- The in-text citation is automatically added to the document, as in the example here.
